Skinny ID is ShareRing’s simplified sign-up process that removes friction on the onboarding journey and allows users to explore the ShareRing ecosystem without having to provide any government IDs.

When users come across a ShareRing feature that they want to use, that is when the app will prompt them to add a government ID to their account and Vault. For those who would like to use an e-passport as their preferred form of government identification, this can be scanned with ShareRing’s NFC and Face Match technologies. See: seven things that make self-sovereign identity different.

The three steps

  1. Download the ShareRing app and create your account with email or social login.
  2. Set a passcode and biometric to lock the encrypted Vault on your device.
  3. Explore. When you reach a feature that needs verified ID, add your government ID via NFC or photo + Face Match.

You stay in control of which credentials are stored, which are shared, and with whom. The Vault is on your device. The hash is on ShareLedger. The data never leaves you. See: the three verification levels inside the ShareRing Vault.

Where we sit.

ShareRing has been building this technology since 2018. The encrypted Vault and self-sovereign ID model we put in the original whitepaper are the same architecture under everything we deploy today.
