A permissioned public network for on-chain reputation and decentralised identifiers, built as an Inter-Blockchain Communication enabled chain inside the Cosmos ecosystem. On-chain modules

Identity is a transaction type, not a bolt-on.

Filter the explorer’s transactions by type and the usual Cosmos modules are there, bank, staking, governance, distribution, slashing. So are six that are not standard anywhere else. Those are ShareRing’s, and they are the reason this is an identity chain rather than a general-purpose one carrying an identity app.

Verifiable documents: issuance, revocation, and the proof that a given document was issued by who it claims.

Assets registered against an identity, so ownership can be proved without disclosing the owner.

What is ShareLedger?

ShareLedger is the foundational layer of the ShareRing ecosystem, designed to enable on-chain reputation and off-chain identity management through decentralized identifiers (DiDs). As an Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) enabled, permissioned public network within the Cosmos blockchain ecosystem, ShareLedger offers developers a robust platform for building identity-gated services.

It anchors verifiable credentials and identity proofs without exposing the underlying personal data, so individuals keep control of what is shared and organisations receive cryptographic certainty.

How your data is protected

ShareLedger never stores personal data on-chain.

It records only tamper-evident hashes and consent receipts. Credentials stay inside the ShareRing Me wallet on the user's device, so data minimisation is built into the architecture.

The building blocks of Web3 identity

Verifiable Credentials (W3C)

ShareLedger allows for the issuance of reputable off-chain credentials directly into the Vault, adhering to W3C standards for verifiable credentials. This ensures interoperability and trustworthiness across platforms.

Shielded Identities

Users can mint "Shielded Identities" as soulbound identity tokens, representing specific attributes or traits while maintaining privacy through Zero-Knowledge Information protocols.

Immutable Identity

By minting an "Immutable Identity" in the form of a soulbound token, users can bolster their digital reputation with immutable hashes that attest to the integrity and validity of their off-chain credentials.

Why a purpose-built chain

Not a general-purpose blockchain

General-purpose chains are optimised for programmable assets. ShareLedger is purpose-built for verifiable identity, with predictable fees, regulated-industry throughput, and native primitives for issuance, verification, and revocation of credentials.

The rules, in the open

Nothing here is a private setting.

Every parameter that governs ShareLedger is published, and changing one takes a vote. Unbonding runs 21 days. The active set is capped at 100 validators. Inflation is zero, minimum and maximum. Two per cent of every reward goes to the community pool, and a validator that misses too much of a 15,160 block window is jailed.

ShareToken

ShareToken (SHR) is the native token powering ShareLedger, facilitating transactions on the network by covering gas fees.

Additionally, SHR is utilized for governance purposes, allowing token holders to delegate their tokens and voting power to their chosen validators.

Every upgrade went to a vote.

Seven proposals, all passed, and every one of them is readable. The upgrade that brought CosmWasm smart contracts to the chain. The staking change that made IBC possible. The slashing window, and the fee distribution. A proposal needs a third of stake for quorum and half the votes cast to carry, inside a two day window.
