About FundedHere

FundedHere is Singapore’s first Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)-licensed equity and debt crowdfunding platform. Founded in 2016, it has built one of Southeast Asia’s most active alternative finance ecosystems, raising over S$20 million across more than 30 campaigns and connecting more than 1,800 investors with high-growth startups across the region.

Operating under the direct oversight of Singapore’s central bank and primary financial regulator, FundedHere is held to some of the strictest standards in financial compliance, including Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) obligations.

The Challenge

As FundedHere scaled its investor base, the limitations of its existing KYC processes became increasingly difficult to ignore. The approach to identity verification was fragmented: a combination of manual document reviews, email-based submission workflows, and third-party checks that had to be co-ordinated by compliance staff.

The problem was threefold. First, the process was slow. Second, the process was inconsistent across different investor tiers. Third, the regulatory environment was tightening. MAS was continuing to strengthen its AML and CTF frameworks, and FundedHere needed a solution that could keep pace.

“We are setting a new standard for financial compliance and security, reinforcing our commitment to maintaining the highest levels of integrity and trust.”

Tim Bos, Co-CEO, ShareRing

The Solution

ShareRing deployed a two-layer identity solution mapped to FundedHere’s distinct investor segments. For general investors, ShareRing integrated its identity verification flow directly into the existing onboarding journey via ShareRing Me and ShareRing Link. No manual document handling, no email attachments, no re-verification required.

For institutional and high-net-worth investors, ShareRing provided an encrypted communication channel for securely sharing notarised passport copies, corporate documents, and other high-assurance materials. The workflow supports both NFC-chipped ePassport verification and standard document submission.

High-touch investors use enhanced encrypted channel for deeper due diligence

The Outcome

The integration materially changed the way FundedHere manages KYC across its investor lifecycle. The manual document review process has been replaced by an automated, privacy-preserving verification flow that can be completed by an investor on their own device in minutes. For investors, subsequent identity requests do not require re-submitting documents; they simply approve a consent request in the app.

From a compliance standpoint, FundedHere now has a continuous, auditable record of all identity verification events, satisfying MAS’s increasingly rigorous AML and CTF reporting requirements. The architecture also positions FundedHere for the future as Singapore’s regulatory framework for digital assets and alternative finance continues to evolve.
